My training
Dr. Goldberg received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Albany in Albany, NY and his Master of Educational Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At this time, he did research on ADHD and has published on this area with Duke University. Dr. Goldberg received his Doctor of Psychology degree from the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology, comprised of the College of William & Mary, Eastern Virginia Medical School, Old Dominion University and Norfolk State University. During graduate school, Dr. Goldberg first worked with veterans at the Hampton, VAMC and later completed his APA accredited internship at the Albany Consortium that includes the Albany VAMC. He also has done prominent research on how marriages change over time with Dr. David Olson in Minnesota. Dr. Goldberg’s current clinical interests include depression, grief issues, problem solving therapies, psychodynamic psychotherapy, crisis intervention and couples therapy. He has worked with thousands of patients with a wide variety of disorders, and has worked in multiple settings. These settings include inpatient, partial hospitalization, outpatient, Veteran Affairs Medical Centers (VAMC), college counseling centers, and in private practice. He has experience in providing assessment and individual treatment in Primary Care, providing group and individual therapy, case management, supervision of students, and compensation evaluations. Dr. Goldberg has also taught at the University level, published articles in psychology, and is completing a book entitled “The ABC’s of Mental Health.” Go here to read full curriculum vita.
