I enjoy working with people who are struggling with challenges related to PTSD, traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, substance misuse/dependence, adjustment to major life changes, and interpersonal dynamics. I value the therapeutic relationship and use this working partnership to help clients gain an understanding of their struggles and develop greater self-efficacy as they manage their symptoms and difficulties. I am committed to using interventions and techniques that are proven to help meet the specific needs of each of my clients and will teach them the skills they need to reach their therapy goals.
I use many evidence based therapies: Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, biofeedback, cognitive behavioral therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Exposure Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, & Relaxation Techniques. I conduct a variety of evaluations (e.g.organ transplant, asylum).
I bring a humanistic and systems approach to therapy, as I believe the the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important aspects of the change process. It is important for me to understand my clients and their environment (family, community, school, employment, etc.) fully so we can work together to develop a plan to reach their therapy goals.
