Dr. Nathan Kerr, Ph.D.
Dr. Nathan Kerr, PhD (he, him) is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. He attained his Bachelor of Science from Cornell University and his Master of Arts from the Catholic University of America. During this time he had extensive experience with crisis hotline services, case management, and suicide prevention research. Dr. Kerr earned his Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Akron. He completed his APA accredited internship at the Canandaigua VAMC and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Military Suicide Prevention at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He has worked with individual adults of all ages from varied cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, particularly Veterans, Service members, and their families. He has worked in multiple settings, including inpatient, partial hospitalization, outpatient, Veterans Affairs Medical Centers, community mental health centers, and clinics. He has experience helping individuals with life transitions, mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, PTSD, substance abuse, schizophrenia, and personality disorders. He has experience providing psychodiagnostic assessment, individual psychotherapy, and group psychotherapy. Dr. Kerr utilizes cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and other evidence-based and -informed approaches. He views psychotherapy as a collaborative process where the client's expertise on their own life works together with his professional expertise to help clients achieve their goals and improve their lives.
