Laura Eaton, MA, MT-BC, NMT, LPC-R
Laura graduated with a BS in Psychology from James Madison University and an MA in Music Therapy and Counseling from Drexel University. She is a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC), a neurologic music therapist (NMT), and a resident in counseling (LPC-R) working under the supervision of Carissa Martin. She began her career after graduation, working closely with residents in a nursing home community outside Philadelphia. More recently, she worked as a Music Therapist with the partial hospitalization unit at a hospital on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. She has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults.
Laura grew up in a family that enjoys music and helping others. Once she saw that Drexel had a dual degree program, she was able to fulfill her two dream jobs in one. She works from a humanistic perspective and uses music therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). She uses mindfulness-based and strengths-based practices. As someone who navigates their own mental health issues, she comes from a place of authenticity. Her methods stem from her personal experience as well as evidence based practices.
Laura sees adolescents, young adults, adults, and older adults. She enjoys working with people experiencing ADHD, adjustment disorder, anxiety, bipolar, bullying, depression, gender dysphoria, grief, self-esteem issues, spirituality issues, stress, suicidal ideation, and trauma.
