Contacting Your Therapist
If you need to send a message to your therapist, please email:
For privacy reasons, Dr. Goldberg & Associates does not provide direct or personal contact information for our therapists.
Our administrative team can relay your message to your therapist.
What Should I Include in My Email?
To help us identify your account and route your message to the correct therapist, please include:
- Your full name
- Your therapist's name
- A brief explanation of why you are contacting them
- Any specific information you would like relayed
- The best way to reach you if a response is needed
Please avoid including unnecessary sensitive or highly detailed clinical information in an email to the administrative team. You can simply let us know what you need your therapist to be aware of or that you would like your therapist to contact you.
What Happens After I Email?
Our administrative team will relay the message to your therapist.
Depending on the nature of your question or concern, your therapist may respond through the appropriate practice communication method or recommend discussing the issue during an appointment.
Some clinical concerns are best addressed during a therapy session rather than through messages.
Contacting Your Medication Management Provider
Medication management patients should communicate with their psychiatric provider through our secure online patient portal.
Send a Message Through the Patient Portal
Currently, only psychiatric providers receive messages through this portal. Therapy and psychological testing messages should be sent using the contact methods described elsewhere on this page.
What Can I Message My Psychiatric Provider About?
You can use the portal for non-emergency medication management concerns, including:
- Medication refill requests
- Medication side effects
- Changes in symptoms
- Questions about how your medication is working
- Concerns about a current psychiatric medication
- Updates you believe your psychiatric provider should know
- Other non-emergency medication management questions
Some questions or concerns may require an appointment with your provider and cannot be addressed entirely through portal messaging.
What Should I Include in a Medication Question?
Providing clear and specific information can help your provider better understand your concern.
When appropriate, include:
- The medication you are taking
- Your current dosage
- What symptoms or side effects you are experiencing
- When the symptoms or concern started
- Any recent changes you have noticed
- Your specific question or concern
Your provider may request additional information or recommend scheduling an appointment before making changes to your treatment.
What Should I Include in a Refill Request?
If you are requesting a prescription refill, please include:
- Prescription/medication name
- Dosage
- Pharmacy name
- Pharmacy location
Refill requests are typically completed within 5–7 business days unless clarification, additional information, or an appointment is needed.
If you have not been seen within the past 3 months, an appointment is required.
Refill requests following missed or unscheduled appointments are handled at the clinician's discretion and incur a $30 fee.
To schedule a medication management appointment, call (703) 935-0058 and press 2 when prompted.

Contacting Your Psychological Testing Provider
If you are currently completing psychological testing or an evaluation and need to communicate information to your testing provider, please email:
Our Psychological Testing Team can relay your message to the appropriate provider.
What Should I Include?
Please include:
- Your full name
- The name of your testing provider, if known
- A brief description of your question or the information you need to provide
- The best way to reach you if follow-up is needed
If the evaluation is for your child or another individual for whom you are coordinating care, include enough information for our team to identify the correct patient and evaluation.
Depending on the nature of your question, our testing team may be able to assist directly or may forward the information to your testing provider.
Which Contact Method Should I Use?
I see a therapist:
Email [email protected] and our team will relay your message.
I see a psychiatric medication management provider:
Use the online patient portal to communicate medication questions, symptoms, concerns, and refill requests.
I am completing psychological testing:
Email [email protected] and our testing team will relay your message to the appropriate provider.
Using the correct communication method helps us get your message to the right person as efficiently as possible.
When Should I Schedule an Appointment Instead?
Messaging can be useful for brief updates, administrative questions, or information your provider needs to know. However, it is not a substitute for a clinical appointment.
Your provider may ask you to schedule an appointment when your concern requires:
- A more detailed clinical discussion
- Assessment of new or changing symptoms
- Changes to your treatment plan
- Medication changes
- Evaluation of significant side effects
- A discussion that cannot be appropriately addressed through messaging
If you are unsure whether you need an appointment, you can still use the appropriate contact method above. Your provider or our team can help determine the next step.
Important: Messages Are Not for Emergencies
Email and the patient portal should not be used for emergency communication.
The medication management portal inbox is monitored during business hours and is not intended for emergency use. Administrative and testing email addresses should also not be used when immediate assistance is needed.
If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, call or text 988 or call 911.
If you are completely out of medication and need immediate medical care, please go to your nearest emergency room.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I have my therapist's email address or phone number?
Dr. Goldberg & Associates does not provide clinicians' personal contact information in order to protect provider privacy. If you need to communicate with your therapist, email [email protected], and our team will relay your message.
How do I send a message to my psychiatrist or medication management provider?
Medication management patients should use the secure patient portal for non-emergency medication questions, symptoms, concerns, and refill requests.
How do I request a medication refill?
Submit your request through the patient portal and include your medication name, dosage, pharmacy name, and pharmacy location. Please allow approximately 5–7 business days for refill requests to be processed unless additional information or an appointment is required.
How do I contact my psychological testing provider?
Email [email protected]. Include your name, your provider's name if known, and a brief explanation of your question or the information you would like relayed.
Can I send detailed clinical information to the administrative email?
We recommend limiting sensitive clinical information sent to administrative staff.
