How to Get Started With Dr. Goldberg & Associates

Getting started with mental health care can feel overwhelming, especially when you aren't sure which provider or service you need. At Dr. Goldberg & Associates, we've made it easier to take the first step.

Whether you're looking for therapy, medication management, or psychological testing, you don't need to know exactly which provider you want before contacting us. Our team can help you understand your options and identify providers based on your needs, insurance, location, availability, and preferences.

Choose Whatever Option is Easiest for You to Get Started

YOU CAN:

CALL OR EMAIL US | COMPLETE A QUESTIONNAIRE | REQUEST AN APPOINTMENT ONLINE

There isn't one required way to become a new patient. Choose whichever option feels easiest and most convenient for you.

Option 1: Call or Email Our Scheduling Team

Prefer to talk with someone directly? We're happy to help.

You do not need to complete a questionnaire first. When you call or email us, our team will ask you screening and provider preference questions so we can better understand what you're looking for and help identify appropriate options.

Call: (703) 935-0058
Email: [email protected]

Option 2: Complete a Screening Questionnaire

Prefer to provide your information online and have us contact you? Start here.

Complete a secure questionnaire to tell us what you're looking for, along with information such as your insurance, availability, location, and provider preferences.

Once you submit the questionnaire, our team will review your responses and contact you using the preferred contact method you select on the form.

*If you have filled out a form with the practice previously, you will have to select complete existing form.

Looking for individual, couples, or family therapy?

Tell us about what you're looking for in a therapist and any preferences that are important to you, we'll use your answers to provide therapist options.

Looking for medication management?

Complete our medication management screening questions so our team can better understand your needs and help identify an appropriate psychiatric provider.

Looking for psychological testing?

Complete our testing screening questions so our team can better understand your needs and help match you with a testing psychologist.

Your information is submitted through an encrypted, HIPAA-compliant form.

Option 3: Request an Appointment Online

Already know you'd like to request a therapy or medication management appointment?

You can also use our online scheduling portal to request an appointment and begin the scheduling process online.

*If you request a medication management appointment through our online scheduling portal, our team will contact you to complete a brief screening before your appointment request is approved. This helps us make sure you are scheduled with a provider who can best meet your needs.

*Psychological testing cannot be scheduled through the online portal. To get started with testing, please contact our Psychological Testing team or complete the testing screening questionnaire, and our team will reach out to you about next steps.

Not sure which option to choose? That's okay. All of these options can help you get started. Choose whichever feels easiest for you.

You Don't Need to Choose a Provider First

Finding the right therapist, psychologist, or psychiatric provider can feel like a big decision—especially when you're already dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, or another challenge.

You are welcome to explore our provider profiles and request a specific clinician, but you do not need to choose a provider before reaching out.

Our team can help identify potential providers based on factors such as your concerns, age, insurance, preferred location, appointment availability, telehealth needs, provider specialties, and other preferences that are important to you.

What Information Will We Ask For?

Whether you complete one of our questionnaires, call us, or email us, we'll ask for some basic information to help us understand your needs and identify appropriate provider options.

We may ask about:

  • The type of service you're looking for
  • What you would like help with
  • Your insurance
  • Your age or the age of the person seeking services
  • Whether you prefer in-person or telehealth appointments
  • Your preferred office location
  • Your scheduling availability
  • Any provider preferences you may have
  • Your state of residence if you're requesting telehealth
  • Additional screening information when requesting medication management

You aren't expected to know your diagnosis or exactly what type of treatment you need before contacting us.

These questions simply help us understand what you're looking for and determine the most appropriate next step.

What Happens After I Submit a Questionnaire?

Once you submit the Therapy Provider Preferences Questionnaire, Testing Screening Questionnaire, or Medication Management Screening Questionnaire, our team will review your responses.

We'll then contact you using the preferred contact method you selected on the form to discuss available options and next steps.

Submitting a questionnaire does not automatically schedule an appointment. Our team will contact you to discuss provider options, availability, and scheduling.

What Happens Next?

Step 1: Tell Us What You're Looking For

Complete one of our questionnaires, call or email our team, or request a therapy appointment through our online scheduling portal.

We'll gather some basic information about what you're looking for and any preferences that are important to you.

Step 2: We'll Help You Find a Provider

If you haven't already chosen a provider, our team can help identify options based on your needs, provider specialties, insurance, age, location, appointment availability, and in-person or telehealth preferences.

You can also request a specific provider. We'll review your needs and scheduling preferences to determine whether that clinician may be an appropriate fit and has availability.

Step 3: Schedule Your Appointment

Once we've identified an appropriate provider and available appointment, we'll help you schedule your first visit.

Step 4: Complete Your Intake Forms

After scheduling, you'll receive the required intake and consent paperwork.

Please complete all required forms before your first appointment. Your paperwork provides your clinician with important information about your history, current concerns, and treatment needs.

Step 5: Attend Your First Appointment

Your first appointment is an opportunity for you and your provider to begin getting to know one another, discuss what brought you to treatment, and determine your goals and next steps.

What happens during the appointment will vary depending on whether you're receiving therapy, medication management, or psychological testing.

What to Expect During Your First Appointment

What if it is not a good fit?

That is totally fine. You are never "locked in" with a therapist or a provider. Just reach out to us and let us know what you enjoyed and what you did not enjoy and we can provide other provider options that will better fit your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions About Getting Started

What is the easiest way to become a new patient?

You have several options. You can complete a Therapy Provider Preferences Questionnaire or Medication Management Screening Questionnaire and have our team contact you, call or email our scheduling team, or request a therapy appointment through our online scheduling portal.

Choose whichever option is most comfortable and convenient for you.

What happens if I complete a questionnaire?

Our team will review your responses and contact you using the preferred contact method you selected on the form. We'll discuss provider options, availability, and next steps with you.

Completing a questionnaire does not automatically schedule an appointment.

Do I have to complete a questionnaire?

No. The questionnaires are available as a convenient way to provide the information our team needs without having to answer the questions over the phone or through email.

If you'd rather speak with us directly, call or email our team and we'll ask you the same types of questions.

Do I need to know which provider I want?

No. You are welcome to request a specific provider, but you don't need to choose one before contacting us.

Our team can help identify providers based on your concerns, insurance, age, location, availability, provider specialties, and preferences.

What if I don't know whether I need therapy, medication management, or psychological testing?

That's okay. Tell our team what you're experiencing and what you're hoping to get help with. We can explain the services available and help determine an appropriate next step.

Can I schedule medication management online?

Medication management requires screening before scheduling so our team can help pair you with a psychiatric provider whose services and availability align with your needs. You can complete the Medication Management Screening Questionnaire or call or email our team to get started. This is consistent with the scheduling process described on DGA's current medication-management page.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. Dr. Goldberg & Associates is in-network with Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare. Individual benefits vary by plan. We do not accept Medicare or Medicaid.
