About Me

Hi! I’m Amy. I’ve worked in the mental health field since 2014 and have more than eight years of experience as an outpatient therapist and crisis counselor. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Belmont University and my master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from Palo Alto University. Originally from Nashville, I moved to Virginia in 2018. Outside of therapy, I enjoy reading, hiking, music, singing, learning guitar, watching movies and true crime shows, and spending time at the beach whenever I can.

My Approach to Therapy

My interest in mental health grew from seeing firsthand how family dynamics can influence our emotional well-being. Growing up, my two older siblings and I navigated the emotional twists and turns that followed our parents’ divorce. As I got older, I became increasingly aware of how common adverse childhood experiences can be and developed a passion for helping people recognize their own strengths, resilience, and ability to process and begin healing from loss and trauma.

I use a collaborative and integrative approach to therapy, which means treatment is shaped around your individual symptoms, experiences, and goals rather than following the exact same formula for everyone. I work with concerns including depression, anxiety, mood disorders, PTSD, OCD, grief, loss, and trauma.

Above all, I strive to be authentic, empathic, and dedicated in my role as a therapist.

What to Expect When Working With Me

Therapy with me is collaborative. Rather than assuming one approach will work for everyone, I consider your unique experiences, symptoms, and goals throughout the therapeutic process. Together, we can better understand what you’re experiencing while identifying the strengths and resilience you already have and finding ways to move toward healing and meaningful change.

My experience as both an outpatient therapist and crisis counselor has allowed me to support people experiencing a range of mental health challenges. Whether you are working through anxiety or depression, processing trauma or loss, or trying to understand patterns that may be connected to earlier experiences, my goal is to provide an empathic space where your individual needs guide our work.
