About Me
I have over five years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. I take a client-centered, individualized approach to therapy because I recognize that each person’s experiences, needs, and goals are unique. My goal is to help you develop practical coping skills, gain insight, build confidence, and create meaningful, lasting change.
I work with children as young as 4, teens, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, relationship difficulties, school-related challenges, substance use, and parenting concerns. I also have experience supporting clients struggling with self-harm and suicidal thoughts, with treatment focused on safety, coping skills, emotional regulation, and developing healthier ways to manage distress.
My Approach to Therapy
I believe therapy should be tailored to the person sitting in front of me. I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Narrative Therapy to help clients better understand what they’re experiencing and develop practical ways to move forward.
Many of my clients are looking for a supportive, nonjudgmental place where they can openly express their thoughts and feelings. We’ll work collaboratively to understand the challenges you’re experiencing, develop practical coping skills, build confidence, and work toward goals that are meaningful to you.
Because I work with clients across different ages and stages of life, I adjust therapy to your individual needs, developmental level, and goals. What works well for a young child may look very different from what an adolescent, parent, or adult needs from therapy.
What to Expect at Your First Appointment
During your first appointment, we’ll take some time to get to know each other and talk about what brought you to therapy. I’ll ask about your current concerns, history, relationships, daily life, and any challenges you may be experiencing. This helps me better understand your needs and how I can best support you.
You don’t need to have everything figured out or know exactly what to talk about. We’ll go at a pace that feels comfortable for you, and you’ll have an opportunity to ask questions or share any concerns you have about the therapy process.
If You’re Nervous About Starting Therapy
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially when you’re not sure what to expect or where to begin. You don’t need to have the right words or have everything figured out before our first session.
We’ll work together to understand what you’re experiencing, identify what you need, and develop strategies that feel realistic and meaningful for you. Taking the first step can be difficult, but you don’t have to take the entire journey at once. We can start wherever you feel comfortable and take it one step at a time.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I don’t know what to talk about?
You don’t need to come to therapy with everything figured out. Part of my role is to help you make sense of what you’re experiencing and identify where we can begin.
Whether you have a specific concern you want to work on or simply know that something doesn’t feel right, we can start there. Therapy is a collaborative process, and we’ll work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you. You don’t have to have all the answers; you just have to be willing to take the first step.
How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?
Finding the right therapist is an important part of the therapy process. Consider whether you feel comfortable, heard, respected, and understood when we talk. You should feel that you can be yourself without fear of judgment and that we can work together toward goals that are meaningful to you.
What approaches do you use in therapy?
I use an individualized approach and draw from CBT, DBT, and Narrative Therapy. Rather than using the same approach with everyone, I consider your needs, experiences, developmental level, and goals when determining how we work together.
Do you work with children and teens?
Yes. I have experience working with children beginning at age 4, school-age children, and adolescents, as well as adults and older adults. My approach changes based on the client’s age, developmental level, individual needs, and treatment goals.
Education & Experience
I earned my Bachelor of Social Work from Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, and my Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, in 2020. Over the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of working with clients across many different ages and life experiences.
Ready to Begin?
Taking the first step toward therapy can feel difficult, but you don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, relationships, life changes, parenting, stress, or simply feeling overwhelmed, therapy can provide an opportunity to slow down, feel heard, and work toward meaningful change.
I invite you to reach out when you feel ready. We can start wherever you are, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Constant provides in-person appointments at our Sterling location, as well as telehealth services for clients who prefer to meet virtually.
