About Me

I’ve been working in social work since 2005, with much of my experience focused on military families and children. Early in my career, I began working with children who had experienced abuse and discovered how much I valued helping families get back on track and stay together. Today, I especially enjoy working with teens ages 13–17 and adults experiencing anxiety, ADHD, trauma and PTSD, grief, stress, panic attacks, relationship concerns, and self-esteem challenges. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, learning, and spending time with my pups and grandchildren.

My Approach to Therapy

I’m down-to-earth and conversational, and I let you help drive where our conversations go. We may look at the past when it helps us understand how it is affecting your life today, but we’ll also look forward and focus on what can help you get where you want to be in the future. When appropriate, I may give you things to work on between sessions so you can continue making progress outside of therapy.

I frequently work with people who are dealing with racing thoughts, feeling constantly overwhelmed or “shut down,” difficulty setting boundaries, relationship worries, or trouble organizing life at home and work. Anxiety, ADHD, and relationship concerns are common areas of focus in my work.

What to Expect When Working With Me

During our first session, after briefly taking care of the administrative pieces, I’ll invite you to tell me about your life. We may talk about what home was like growing up and what your life feels like now. This helps me understand not only what you’re struggling with, but also the experiences that have helped shape where you are today.

If you’re nervous about therapy, we’ll only go as far into your story as you want to go at any given time. We aren’t in a rush. I believe therapy can move at a slow and easy pace while still helping you work toward meaningful change.

Finding the right therapist is an important part of feeling better. If you’re looking for someone who is down-to-earth, listens without judgment, and works with you using evidence-based strategies to reach your goals, we may be a good fit. During our first few sessions, we’ll decide together whether my approach feels right for you.

I look forward to working with you and helping you write your next chapter!

Frequently Asked Questions

What concerns do you specialize in?

I especially enjoy working with teens ages 13–17 and adults. My areas of focus include anxiety, ADHD, trauma and PTSD, grief, stress, panic attacks, relationship concerns, boundaries, and self-esteem. I also have significant experience working with military families and children.

What is your approach to therapy?

I tend to be conversational, with the client helping to guide where our conversations go. We may explore the past and how it affects your life today while also looking toward the future and identifying what can help you get where you want to be. I may also give assignments between sessions when appropriate.

Can therapy help with feeling overwhelmed or having racing thoughts?

Yes. Many of my clients come to therapy because they have constant racing thoughts, feel overwhelmed or shut down, struggle to organize their lives at work or home, or have difficulty setting boundaries in their relationships. These are areas we can work through together.

What if I’m nervous about talking about my past?

We’ll only go as far as you want to go at any given time. We aren’t in a rush. My approach is down-to-earth, and we can move through your story at a slow and comfortable pace.

How often will I need therapy?

It depends on what’s going on and what kind of support you need. I generally like to start with weekly sessions, and we can determine what makes the most sense for you as treatment progresses.

How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?

Finding the right therapist is an important part of feeling better. If you want someone who is down-to-earth, listens without judgment, and works collaboratively with you toward your goals, we may be a good fit. We’ll use the first few sessions to decide together whether my approach feels right for you.
