About Me
I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with 15 years of experience working primarily with adults of all ages and teenagers. During my time in the Navy, I specialized in treating complex trauma and traumatic brain injury (TBI). I have also worked extensively with people experiencing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and women’s health concerns.
I tend to be curious about a lot of different things, including culture, history, and art. Outside of work, I love animals, reading, and traveling. I am also a former Navy service member, which is where I met my husband, and at home I have a two-year-old son and an 85-pound Rottweiler-Golden Retriever mix.
My Approach to Therapy
My style blends a casual approach with structure, depending on what you need. I am a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT), but more importantly, I see therapy as a collaboration.
You are the expert in you, and I am the expert in psychology. Together, we work to help you heal. I don’t know more about your experience than you do, which is exactly why we need to collaborate.
What to Expect When Working With Me
Often, people come to see me because they feel stuck or are looking for something to be different. You may be dealing with feelings related to trauma, anxiety, or depression and have reached a point where you know you want something to shift.
Your first appointment focuses on getting to know you in a structured way. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy and spend some time understanding your history so I can begin getting a clearer picture of what you’re experiencing and how we might work together.
Feeling nervous about starting is natural. Therapy is very personal, and it’s normal to feel apprehensive about entering into a new therapeutic relationship. It is my job to support you through hardship, whether that means overcoming trauma or managing anxiety, so if you would like to take the leap, I am here to help.
