About Me

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., with 20 years of experience in the mental health field. I often feel like I was born for this work—I’ve always been the friend willing to listen and be a support for others. Over the years, I’ve worked with clients from many different backgrounds and circumstances, and I continue to value the opportunity to help people better understand themselves and create meaningful change in their lives.

I work with teens ages 15–18, young adults, adults, families, neurodivergent clients, LGBTQIA+ clients, and individuals in traditional and non-traditional relationships. My experience includes anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, OCD, relationship and friendship concerns, sexual concerns, family conflict, grief and loss, self-esteem, life transitions, stress, mood concerns, and challenges related to work, school, and social, racial, cultural, or economic disenfranchisement.

Outside of therapy, I enjoy reading, listening to music, powerlifting, and spending time with my sweet little puppy and friends.

My Approach to Therapy

I use an integrative approach to therapy, which means I adjust how we work together based on what you need. I can be conversational, and I use mild humor when appropriate. I also believe it’s important for us to identify one to three goals that we can work toward together during our time in therapy.

Depending on your needs, I may incorporate talk therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR when appropriate, and relational techniques. Therapy with me isn’t about telling you how to live your life. It’s about helping you make sense of what you’re thinking, feeling, or experiencing and working together toward the changes you want to see.

What to Expect When Working With Me

Many clients come to me because sometimes life is just…well, life-ing. You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, depressed, affected by trauma, or simply “stuck.” You may know that something needs to change without knowing exactly what that change should look like.

I want therapy to be a place where you can be yourself and be vulnerable when sometimes it feels like the world wants you to feel nothing at all. You don’t have to have all the answers, and there is no requirement to have it all figured out before you begin.

Your first appointment will include a clinical assessment, but it is also our opportunity to start getting to know each other. You can ask questions about therapy, my approach, my background, or anything else that may help you feel more comfortable as we begin building rapport.

Frequently Asked Questions

What concerns do you work with?

I have experience with anxiety, depression, PTSD and trauma, OCD, relationship and friendship concerns, sexual concerns, family conflict, life transitions, stress, self-esteem, grief and loss, mood concerns, and work or school difficulties. I also work with clients navigating social, racial, cultural, and economic disenfranchisement.

Do you work with LGBTQIA+ clients and people in non-traditional relationships?

Yes. I work with LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients, as well as individuals in traditional and non-traditional relationships. That includes clients who are single or unmarried and those in polyamorous or ethically non-monogamous (ENM) relationships.

What if I’m nervous about starting therapy?

It is quite alright to feel nervous about starting therapy with someone you don’t know from a can of paint. Take your time. Ask questions. Get to know what this space feels like. Get comfy and just let your mind flow. I’m not here to tell you how to live your life or condemn your choices. I’m here to help you make sense of what you’re thinking, feeling, or experiencing.

Where do I even start?

This is actually one of the questions I hear most often. My answer is usually simple: start wherever you feel most comfortable. If you aren’t sure where that is, I might simply ask, “How are you feeling today?” and we can start there.

How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?

Sometimes it takes a little time to figure that out. Other times, you may know right away. If you’re looking for a therapist who helps you feel respected, heard without judgment, and understood, and you have goals you’d like us to work on together—or you simply get a good “vibe” from our interactions—I may be the right fit for you.

A Little More About Me

I believe therapy should give you space to be yourself while also helping you move toward a life that feels meaningful and aligned with your values. I am dedicated to helping you recognize and build on your strengths so you can create the life you want for yourself.

Thank you for considering working with me. I look forward to supporting you as you work toward the changes you want to make in your life.
